It was a humble beginning on the 23rd of September, 2007, when we began our cause – an endeavour to support people for their emergency blood requirements. What commenced as a fervent search for blood donors, and connecting two lives – a willing donor and the needy patient, providing much-needed relief to anxious family members, took a giant next leap into working for Cancer survivors. Platelets were critical to be made available for the survivors, and it was a natural progression for the regular blood donors to support with platelets as well.
The ground work and networking during our initial days stood us in good stead, and helped build a reasonable base of donors willing to give their best shot. It was 2016 when we went full steam by focussing our attention to kids suffering from Cancer, who could not bear financial burden. We took the necessary steps to support Post-Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) medication expenses & Hospital Treatment Expenses to few.
In the year 2018 we registered ourselves as a Trust under Indian Trusts Act, 1882 for Public, Social, Educational and Charitable purposes in the name of PLATELET PATRONS CHARITABLE TRUST. The Trust, since then, has supported more than 1500 patients through financial aid and through platelet donation. We currently support 27 cancer kids, 14 cancer survivors who have successfully completed Bone Marrow Transplants & 9 Physically Challenged Family’s who Require Coloplast, Uro Bags & Diapers Support.
We also coordinate and arrange for a rare blood type called the ‘Bombay Blood Group’ and facilitate transfer of units between different States to ensure every unit donated is effectively put to use, without being discarded.
One of our objectives has also been to raise awareness among the general public, of the importance of donating Blood and Platelets. This is being pursued by undertaking advertisement campaigns, blood donation campaigns and by encouraging existing donors to share their learnings and experiences with others.
Platelet Patrons Charitable Trust also known as Platelet Club has been accredited by various organizations, both Government and Non-Government. We feel honoured to have been recognized in the forums as listed below.
And many more.
Recently the Founder of the Trust carried out the duty of Co-ordinator for entire Southern region for the Project “Samvedna”, an International Blood and Platelet Donation drive, which was a Guinness Book of World Record attempt.
Our priority, commitment and endeavour will remain firm and deep-rooted in supporting the needy for blood and platelets.
Platelet Club is more than a donation network—it’s a community driven by compassion. From platelet and blood donations to rare blood support, we stand with those in urgent need.
Our efforts go beyond saving lives. We offer medical assistance for children, scholarships for underprivileged students, and care for the elderly. Every donor, every supporter, every act of generosity strengthens our mission to heal, empower, and inspire hope.
